Spring Season 2010

Matinee Performance: 25th February at 2.30pm

The first play that Chekhov wrote specifically for the Moscow Arts Theatre, Three Sisters offers a moving and evocative glimpse into the privileged, but decaying world of the Prozorov family during the twilight years of pre-revolutionary Russia.

Balancing optimism for the future with a deeply felt longing for the past, the play offers a portrait of three educated and cultured young women desperately searching for an escape from the cloying banality and stifling provinciality of their daily lives.

A delicate and powerful portrait of human frailty, lost hope, and the uncompromising demands of a rapidly changing world.
